What is your biggest area for growth? Think about it. Questions kids can discuss freely. How is belonging different than fitting in?

Belonging means people like you for being you. You can share your ideas, wear what you like, and enjoy the things that make you special.

Fitting in means trying to be like everyone else, even if it doesn’t feel right. You might hide your true thoughts or pretend to like something just so others will accept you.

The best friends are the ones who let you be yourself. Being different isn’t something to hide. It’s one of your superpowers!

“Would you rather have friends who like the real you, or friends who only like the pretend you?”

Tips for how to know yourself

  1. Understand who you are, what matters to you, your strengths and values and /or maybe areas you need growth in.
  2. Learn to connect to your emotions. Recognize, accept, and work through your emotions (even the challenging ones)
  3. Use self-awareness to understand behaviors and how they help you reach your goals (wish/obstacle/feelings/plan) and build healthy habits.
  4. Recognize when you feel pulled in different directions from your friends, family or school. Learn how to respond to pressures, celebrate growth and share gratitude.
