Socialization is one of the hardest pillars to learn because it requires good role models and frequent demonstrations to be effective. Socialization is simply the ability to steer relationships and navigate social situations. It is not as easy as it sounds. Hyperion learns that confronting someone takes courage. It is much easier to avoid conflict and to keep peace. But this voids your own feelings. Confronting someone requires you to speak up and take action for what is right. Ricky demonstrates this for Hyperion in Book 1 Messy Robot and the Sneaky Cat where Hyperion begins to take an interest in others. He shows friendship can be built by showing up, hanging out, and doing things together. Three important skills of socialization are: confronting someone, speaking up, and making friends.
